INDIVIDUAL AND
FAMILY COUNSELING

A return home from military service may affect many areas of your life, and your domestic circle as well. Outside the Wire is here for you when you are ready to seek guidance from our highly trained counselors and a psychologist. Our confidential counseling sessions will offer tools that will help you and your family through this period of change and uncertainty.

GROUP COUNSELING

Outside the Wire holds weekly group counseling sessions where you will be invited to share and hear from other veterans about their own progress – their journey, successes, and challenges. The effectiveness of group counseling is proof that community works. Both our individual and group counseling are provided by trained clinicians using a variety of evidence-based therapies and practices.

CASE MANAGEMENT

Our case managers partner with you to create your own individualized plan. Together, we identify and address your strengths, barriers, immediate and long-term goals. Motivational interviewing, as well as job coaching, is often employed as a means of encouraging veterans to explore their past and future expectations, and to modify behavior accordingly. Case managers work with VA personnel and community partners to provide the necessary resources to give you the tools you need to succeed.

EDUCATIONAL
WORKSHOPS

Outside the Wire helps veterans integrate their military skills into civilian life, become reacquainted with societal norms, and develop communications tools for adjusting to unfamiliar campus culture. Our educational workshops offer a number of trainings and wellness activities including leadership training, social, and mindfulness activities. These workshops are offered not just for student veterans, but also for community college staff and faculty to raise awareness and provide training on the unique needs veterans face in the the classroom.
